Why What You Wear to Yoga MATTERS

By Kyla Rose Maher

I love Kundalini style. If you've never been to a Kundalini yoga festival, I'm telling you, it's the BEST people-watching experience out there.  Layers of beautiful white flowing clothing, fine jewelry, body adornments, intricate head wraps, and perfectly tied turbans.  Some people might think, "if they are focused so much on meditating and going "inside" why are they so worried about their outsides?  I was in a workshop with Snatam Kaur about morning sadhana (daily spiritual practice) last year and I love how she explained that what you wear during your practice is important because it's really about how you're showing up to meet your Creator.

Lord knows I'm dressing to the NINES when I go out with my man, why wouldn't I put the same effort into dressing myself up to be with my higher self?  Sure,  like anything this can be taken to extremes, but I just love this philosophy and it's the foundational idea behind Long Time Sun Apparel.  Dress up because you love yourself.  Dress up because yoga & meditation are important. Dress up because it makes you feel GOOD.

"Your way of dressing should be saintly and make you glow with grace. You should look like a sage and a prince or princess of peace and divinity. " ~ Yogi Bhajan
